Presented here is Jack Owens’ discography of music from 1935 - 1965. While not a fully complete or exhaustive discography by any means, it is still the largest and most thorough, if not the only, discography available anywhere for one of America’s most favorite, and yet forgotten, recording artists, performers, and songwriters during the late 1930’s through the early 1950’s.

Overlooked and long since forgotten by many over the years, Jack Owens was a song writing machine, a versatile ballad crooner and exciting live performer, a gifted pianist, a radio star of the longest running network radio show of all time, The Breakfast Club With Don McNeill, and was also one of TV’s pioneers as the host of his own daytime talk show, The Jack Owens Show.

Owens, especially as a young crooner, had the looks of a silver screen idol, the smooth voice of Bing Crosby, but with an added resonance that was distinctly Owens, and the on-stage and in-audience playfullness and charisma not witnessed by many American audiences, or at least mainstream audiences, until some singing, guitar-slinger named Elvis showed up nearly 10 years later. But what made Jack Owens unique, especially from 1944 on, was his ability to not only get the bubble gum chewers popping, but how he managed to elicit all the rosy-cheeked blushes, loud sighs, and giddy laughter from packed crowds often known for their potentially snooty, disapproving, and old-fashioned stance on a public performer’s on-stage behavior, the 40-70 year-old female audience.

Not an easy accomplishment for any perfomer, especially in the 1930’s and 40’s.
